Community Group Successful in Protecting the Blackmud Whitemud Triangle from Proposed Road and Bridge
We are proudly announcing that the Honourable Ray Danyluk, Minister of Transportation, AB Government has APPROVED BYLAW 15896. It removes 4 lane arterial road 119 St and Blackmud Creek Bridge Crossing from the City of Edmonton Transportation System (old Bylaw 15101).
Kudos and heartfelt thanks to the following persons, groups, and elected public officials:
- 702 persons who signed the petition in 2010
- 83 persons who signed in 2011
- Residents who attended "Community conversation sessions " and signed support sheets in Twin Brooks, Skyrattler, Aspen, Blue Quill.
- all who emailed the Mayor and Councillors Bryan Anderson, Don Iveson, Ben Henderson.
- who attended the 3 Council Hearings in 2010 and 2011 in support of removal of Bylaw 15101.
- all the Associations such as Ducks Unlimited, the Edmonton Area & Land Trust, Edmonton Nature Club, North Saskatchewan River Vally Conservation Society (NSRVCS), Sierra Club, Urban Development Institute who wrote letters of support.

- Retired professionals who mentored and supported the core team of 8 persons who worked from September 2009 to March 2012 to save the 800-1000 acres of natural area known as the BlackmudWhitemud Triangle. We have now undertaken a STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM for the Triangle.
- All members of our Database in Twin Brooks and Blue Quill who endured our stream of emails.
- TBC League, Past Communications Officer, Marianne Auch, who with patience and panache published our monthly announcements.
